The food is good...good. This is my favorite restaurant when I come to Va.

Good old fashioned American food, great prices and good service.

Not enforcing masks.....not good for anyone at risk or having immunity issues 😕

Americana diner-style food at its finest! Great service, great classic American Breakfast food, and a warm homey atmosphere to top it off. We had the Pecan Waffles, Biscuits and Gravy meal and two extra sausage links. It was all exactly what we were looking for on a Saturday morning! It is CASH ONLY!!!

Long wait due to social distancing in the dining room. The Service was good and the food piping hot and very tasty. Will go back

Food was all good, except for the mushy hash browns. I realize this is a personal preference, though. I just happen to like a little bit of crisp on them, at least.Service was good. Very attentive, very friendly.The only real disappointment was that they still only take cash or check, so they point you toward their ATM on the front porch. In this case, your meal is going to cost you $2.75 extra just for the inconvenience. Probably won’t come back for that reason. I can get the same food at a variety of other places without that surcharge.Join the 21st Century and I would come back, though.

The food is great here. It was very crowded. We were in town for a jazz concert and found out that this was a place with a lot of history and good food. Loved it

Tommy's restaurant is a must go on your to-do list! There may be a line when you arrive however it moves quickly. You are greeted at the door with a smile and a hello. Once seated your friendly waitress will have fresh coffee ready in hand. The menu seems endless which they're known for the catfish breakfast and their pan fried half chicken & freshly made waffles. The quantity and quality are equally matched.Friendly family atmosphere that's refreshing where you can just talk with your loved one and enjoy some delicious food. Bring cash at Tommy's that's the only type payment accepted.

The food was delicious and abundant. Everyone was well attentive to our needs. Our new favorite place to eat.

Jasmine is awesome! The food was amazing! The food quality and prices were unmatched! I went in Saturday...they were busy but the line moved extremely fast. I was pleased!

The staff were very patient and courteous while taking our order (9 people). Our prepared food arrived in a timely manner and our food was warm and very tasty!

Tommy's has always had good quality food and relatively inexpensive for the amount of food. Our waitress was very nice and was appropriately attentive to us. It was quite busy, so it took about 15-20 minutes to get in the door but once we were we were sat quickly. (If it wasn't already known, they don't take names and call you. You stand in line at the door and they seat in order.)

Good food but service is lacking can't beat the prices

Awesome, you best bet is to get there early because the line stretches into the Parking lot. however it's well worth the wait.

Just love Tommy's - the staff are always so friendly and keep your cups filled. The food is fresh and fast and very tasty. My fave is the Tommy's breakfast combo - it's a great price and so much FOOD!

SEAFOOD BREAKFAST.... AMAZING HOSPITALITY.. THEY MADE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS AT HOME. CATFISH. HASH BROWNS. SCRAMBLED EGGS WITH CHEESE. TOAST. SWEET TEA.

The food here is always amazing! Especially the fish and grits. The free toast is even cooked well!Sometimes there is a line but it moves fairly quickly. The only complaint I have is that they only take cash and the waitress did not inform us until we had finished eating and it was time to pay. They do have an ATM but it has a high service charge. What if all I had was a CREDIT card!?

The food is absolutely AMAZING! The Credle Crew definitely approves! Unfortunately I forgot to take photos PRIOR to eating but here are our to go containers (which you will need because the portions are generous). We had the catfish with grits, eggs, hushpuppies and a Belgian waffle and the sweet cream waffle with peaches, eggs, bacon, and deep fried potatoes. Delicious!

All the food was great a little greasy well very greasy my eggs shine like a Jerry curl and left the juice on the plate like the back of a cloth couch. Even though the food will put me in a early grave I'll ne back I did not like the cash only and oh go and use my 2.75 atm fee out front to pay you 60$ meal for that you get a big middle finger this will be the last Time I eat here very upset that was left by a cook and the waitress put her bare hand in ice we drink out of and ate it yes they gave use new ice from front but I see this place may not be the place for me and my family sorry for the truth

Food was awful. Service was just as bad. First and last time here. Can't imagine why this place is popular. Cold food. Limp bacon. Bad server. Just eww.

Food is great, but the lack of delivery and refusal of credit or debit cards is a hassle. They need to become more progressive if they want to compete with more popular restaurants such as First Watch or Food Craft. A great disappointment truly that there is no delivery system during this pandemic smh.

The staff was extremely friendly and professional. The food was prepared quickly. I think the prices were reasonable and portions more than generous. However, I found the food lacking in flavor. Since the restaurant had minimal open tables, I have to believe that the food usually more appetizing. If I returned, I think I would try a signature dish. I was surprised at the end of the meal that they only accepted cash or check.

Tommy's Restaurant was awesome. The food was great and filling. Our waitress was very pleasant, on point, and remembered us from our last visit. Although, very crowded, the hostess was the best at keeping everything in order and keeping those in line updated with how long the wait would be. Very nice experience. Definitely, will return when in town.

Delicious breakfast with homemade sausage and corn beef hash available. Everything was cooked to perfection and the staff were friendly and accommodating. There can be a wait so go early!

It was well worth the wait. Only thing is I wish they would accept debit cards! The service & the food was great. Fast,efficient & tasty! Will return

Social distancing in the waiting area inside is not happening! Couldn't order by phone, always a busy signal and for the first time ever the food wasn't that good!

The place is in nice location and food is very good and people that work there is friendly

Our waitress was kind. They kept my coffee filled and we're attentive even when they were super busy! This place is cash only. I'm glad my husband (who grew up in Newport News) remembered before we went. The food was great. They were training a new cook and told us that the wait could be a little longer but I didn't really notice a delay. It's understandable why this place is busy: delicious food and great service!

Our local favorite for awesome home cooking! The staff is A-1, hustling your food out record time. Do yourself a favor and try it(and get dessert!)

Get the beef gravy and toast, and the smoked sausage!! Great little gem!

This place is extremely overrated. I received an order of large grits that were lumpy and hard. When I asked if they were fresh she said yes but I watched her place them in the microwave to heat them up. Recieved a better serving about 10 minutes later but by then my eggs were cold. You think they gave me fresh eggs or even like 10% discount for my inconvenience??? Nope.

Covid-19 time-frame review. Went in this morning to have breakfast with my daughter. Was seated as close to the doorway as we could be and within 3 feet of other people eating. I looked to the front side of the restaurant and saw empty tables. I asked the host, who i believe is the owner because i have seen her there many time over the years i have been going here, if we could move to one of the other tables and was told "no". No reasoning for it, just "no". I also had a problem with her few years ago. She checks people out at the register. I asked for change for the $5 she game me back to pay someone i was with the $2 i owed him. She said "Stop being cheap and tip the whole $5". I had already left the tip on the table and its none of her business anyway. It is a shame, waitresses and bust boys work hard here. Management is the problem and reason I will not return.

Good food. Quick. No wait this morning! Portions are generous. Had to take half home. The service was very friendly and still efficient. Be prepared to wait sometimes. I've heard it gets really busy! I can see why. Prices are good too. $10 for eggs, biscuits, pancakes, crispy bacon, hash browns and lots of hot coffee.

First time back since I was a kid and I was not disappointed. The food was great and the steak was cooked to perfection! 10/10 will go again and 1000% recommended to anyone looking for a good breakfast place

Great food but they don't take credit cards. These have an atm machine in the lobby and it cost 4 bucks to use.

Tommy's is a good old fashioned breakfast dinner that is a staple in the community.. the food is reasonably priced and the service is quick. Tight seating, get there early or be prepared too wait. ( Lines move quickly). Cash only! Recommend!

Tommy restaurant was sooo good! It's a "mom & pop" type of restaurant, and if any of you know about mom & pop they're usually good as hell, and it was just that! My cousin is 3 for 3 on recommending good places to eat while in Virginia. 🤗

The food was really good! The sweet potatoes fries were spectacular, I just wish they had more lactose free options since most of their food are based around cheese, but that’s okay since I just took a lactaid.

Tried this place for the first time today, and i highly recommend everyone do the same!!! I almost didn't stay because there was a waiting line out the door but I'm so very glad I did! Excellent waitress, awesome atmosphere, wondeful food, and we got it fast too!!! I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this place!!!

The breakfast is unbeatable! Absolutely loved it! It’s been years since I’ve been able to go and I STILL think about it! That’s how you know it’s delicious! Definitely recommend you get a full breakfast because you’ll want to taste everything ;)!
